    Information on Fairfax City Pet Policies Dog owners must annually purchase Fairfax City dog licenses for all dogs 4 months or age or older. They can be purchased at the Office of the Treasurer in City Hall at 10455 Armstrong Street.In the City of Fairfax, the size of a property determines the number of dogs age four months and older to live at a city residence. City Code permits one or two dogs to be licensed at a residence regardless of lot size. However, owners must have a lot size of at least 7,500 square feet to house three dogs. For four dogs, residents must have a lot size of at least 12,500 square feet.No more that four dogs are permitted to live at any residence.However, dog owners with more than the permitted number of dogs who have been continually licensed in the city since October 1999 may be exempted from this city ordinance. For information, call 703-385-7900. Owners must keep dogs on a leash when they are not on their own property, and must obey pooper-scooper laws. For information on animal laws, call 703-385-7924.Owners must register dogs found by a court to be dangerous and euthanize dogs found by a court to be vicious.   Dog owners must pickup waste deposited by their pets on others’ property or on common ground.  Our CC&Rs state specifically that no animals may be raised, bred or kept for commercial purposes.
